Why Your Stories Matter

Stories aren’t just statistics or headlines—they’re real experiences happening to real people. Telling stories ensures that our stories become a critical piece of the historical record. Stories can:

(1) increase awareness;
(2) document proof of harm;
(3) contribute to the historical record;
(4) empower the storytellers

Some Possible Story Themes

A story can be about something that happened to you, a story someone shared with you, or a relevant Hawai‘i story that you want to alert us to. Remaining anonymous can be an option.

4. Department of Agriculture (USDA) cuts and/or deregulations
5. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) cuts
6. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cuts and/or deregulations
