resist + educate + organize
Hawai‘i J20+ came together on January 20, 2017, to act on shared concerns about the rhetoric, actions, and politics of President Donald Trump’s agenda. In 2021, we foolishly closed up shop thinking we were done. We have revived to fight Trump + the billionaires, AGAIN, and it is more urgent now than ever!

UNITED IN DEFENSE OF EDUCATION
Fri, Sep 19, 6 – 8 pm
Harris United Methodist Church (20 S Vineyard Blvd, Honolulu)
The focus of this Solidarity Forum is on Trump’s full scale attack on education. Trump has cut more than $10 billion in research grants on cancer research, diabetes treatment, climate change, social inequality, and much more. The State Department is restricting international students from enrolling in universities. Trump is also attacking k to 12 public education. He has illegally withheld funds, allowed ICE to raid public schools, and threatened local school districts in an attempt to control instruction. all this is occurring in a climate of banning books, targeting teachers, and locking up student activists in ice jails. the defense of education is critical for our ability to know our history, be able to understand what is currently occurring, and have the know-how to effectively halt Trump’s efforts to institute authoritarianism. our speakers will address Trump’s attacks and ways to ensure that our access to public, quality education is protected.
